Why and how I compress images used on my website?

Beautiful nature scene with cottage in the mountains near a stream.

I have used lots of free and paid software to compress the images I use for my own websites.

I believe you can’t help but wonder, why I compress images?

The sole purpose is to reduce the loading time of web pages.

This is especially important for mobile users, who often experience slower loading times due to limited bandwidth.

So, how?

I have selected only 3 free tools by trial and error to reduce the cost to an absolute minimum.

First, I compress PNG images with Tinify to improve my website’s performance.

Secondly, I use COMPRESSJPEG to compress JPG or JPEG images.

Thirdly, I use WebP Converter to convert from or to WebP.

As the saying goes, there is no such thing as a free lunch. However, the said 3 tools are absolutely free.

Try them and leave your comments.
